Entering the workforce is something all students will do in the future. Developing their entrepreneurial skills will put students in good stead in the competitive employment market. Students will learn how to take a business idea from identifying opportunities and developing a concept through the processes of determining finance options, pricing and marketing strategies and budgeting for costs. Accounting and Economics concepts such as opportunity cost, supply and demand, income statements and ethical and legal considerations when establishing a real life business will also be covered. Topics explored will draw on relevant case studies of current businesses to give students a thorough understanding of the issues confronting businesses operating in today’s ever-changing environment. The Semester culminates in students working in a team to execute the running of a Market Day stall.

Do you ever wonder why countries make decisions that lead to conflict? Ever thought about how events far away from us can have a lasting impact? Students will learn about key events, places and individuals in World War 2. Topics explored (such as the Rats of Tobruk and the Kokoda Campaign) will also look at how decisions were made and how that played a role in a variety of major events during World War 2.

Crime and Politics
The Political climate of the world is changing. As the world around us changes, new political heroes are being followed and celebrated, whilst the world of crime continues to be a topic of intrigue and great mystery. In this course, students learn about what crime is, how crime is managed and how the law is enforced in society. They learn about crimes such as murder and they look at the Acts which sanction these crimes. Students look at a range of real-life examples and case studies to help bring the real-world into this subject. Students will then study how laws are made in the Australian Political system, whilst exploring the key features of a democratic society. Paralleling this, investigation of the use of power, political ideology and global actors give students a rounded, 21st century look at the ever-changing world around them.
