Parting ways with characters is a sad but inevitable part of the roleplay experience. Whether your character is leaving or dying, or will rejoin some other day, this guide is your best friend when it comes to removing a character!
There are many reasons a character might be removed from the group, both IC and OOC.
It's important to keep the following in mind when thinking about removing a character:
1. All members must have at least 1 character in the group at all times. If your character count reaches 0, you are effectively leaving the group, and will be removed!
1.1. A member who wishes to replace their only existing character with a new one should submit their new character and get it approved before removing their current one. You may reach out to staff if you wish to bypass the 2nd character slot fee this way (again, only if you plan on removing your existing character)!
2. Kittens who have been given to members by other members may be rehomed if the kitten leaves or dies. Please refer to the Relationships page for more information and rules on this!
3. You must note the group to make your character's removal official! Failure to do so may impact your ability to bring in future characters, so please stay on top of this! There is no format for removing a character- simply note the group with their True name (or whatever name is on their card), the reason they're leaving, and what you'd like to be done with their inventory (if anything).
4. Character rumors should be wrapped up before the character is removed from the group!
5. Characters who die in-group will have all skills (minus those required for their age) and upgrades refunded to the player.
6. Characters who pass away will have their True name recycled and able to be used again, unless it is used as the player's C/U name.
7. Characters who leave and come back for whatever reason will need an updated history, stating what happened while they were out of the group.
8. Havensake does not have a retirement system in place for characters to remain in Corondryx's borders and serve as NPCs- removing them means that they must leave Corondryx in some way.
IC reasonings & methods of removing:
• Character leaves Corondryx of their own accord, either on their own or with others.
• Character "goes missing" (usually used as an IC excuse when the player isn't connecting to their character, but the character has no reason to actually leave). Your character cannot go missing and still be in Corondryx itself- they will never be found within Corondryx's borders, and if you bring them back later, they'll still need an updated history stating what happened to them.
• Character permanently dies.
In the event that you want to kill a character, please keep the rules in the Personal Plot Guide page in mind!
Additionally:
• Characters are considered elders at the age of 12 years (144 moons) IC, meaning It's unlikely for a character to die of age-related causes before this age.
• There is no maximum age for Havensake characters. We do not enforce death by a certain age.
• There are multiple ways to announce your character's demise: you can roleplay it out, make a rumor, make an art piece, or simply mention it OOC. You should mention it, so those with connections are aware, but it is not required.
• Characters who pass away in Havensake are typically ineligible for reincarnation. Those who passed away in TGB may be eligible, provided they meet certain requirements. Check out the Rules page for more info.
• Your character may still exist in passing as a ghost, either a roaming one, one that is called down on occasion from Haven, one bonded to a starstone, etc. Keep in mind that ghosts do not earn EXP (unless drawn interacting with another character), and do not count for quests, events, character slots, etc.
• Deceased characters may have their apps removed from the group, or moved to the appropriate folder in the group's gallery.
• Unless their name is a C/U, once a character dies, their True name is up for grabs again! If you would like to C/U their name on the masterlist and have an open slot, let staff know before it is reused.
Character Inventory
Once your character has been removed from the group, admins will disperse their inventory as asked (if applicable).
You may choose to move all of their inventory to another character of yours, disperse it to other members, or do whatever you'd like. Your character may also leave with their inventory. The same goes for pets! (Transferring already registered pets to another user does not incur the pet registration fee from them.)
Character Log
Admins will screenshot your character card and any lost inventory. The card is then deleted and you will be sent a link to the screenshot for logging purposes, in case anything is needed.
Refunding EXP
Deceased characters receive refunds on skill purchases by default, but if you believe your character who is leaving will not be returning, you are free to request a refund. It will be processed before their card is screenshotted, so if they do ever come back for any reason, they will start over again in terms of skills.
Any questions or concerns about the process can be addressed to staff at any time!
While there is no format for these notes, here's a (really old) example!
