One of the most important aspects of roleplay is interpersonal relationships, and Havensake makes no exception to that! Cats in the group are able to interact freely between one another as long as it makes sense in canon, however, what we do hold the reins back on a little more are romantic and romantic-adjacent relationships (ie. dating, mateships, flings, etc). This journal encompasses all things related to relationships of that nature, including how to request official mateships and kitten rolls!
[Dating & Mateships]
It should be noted that the admin team does not regulate who your cat can and cannot date, so long as it stays within our guidelines. The difference between dating and mateship is that the former is implied to be casual and lesser “known” in the world of Corondryx, whereas mateships require approval from leaders and often include ceremonies (either done via rp, rumors, headcanons, or announcements, depending) to make them official. Mates are also often referred to by marriage terms depending on the players’ choices!
More details on requesting official mateships (which are added to your characters’ cards!) can be found in the “Requesting Mateships” section below, but let’s go over the rules of entering any kind of relationship first!
1. Characters cannot take on a mate until they are 18 moons of age.
1.a) In addition to this, characters must have been in the group for 2+ months before requesting an official mateship. They do not have to be in the group for any certain amount of time to date other characters.
2. Characters may not date outside of their age brackets (ie. adult/adult or adolescent/adolescent are fine, but adult/adolescent is not unless it meets an exception).
Characters in general cannot begin “dating” until they are 12 moons of age.
2.a) Expanding on this, younger apprentice characters may have “crushes” as children sometimes do, but it should be handled tastefully. They cannot enter actual relationships until they are at least 12 moons old.
2.b) If Character A is 18 and meets Character B, who is 15, at these respective ages, then they should not date nor conceive a litter until Character B is at least 24 moons old. This allows a period of maturity between the characters without making it seem as though Character A was just waiting for them to become an adult.
2.b.1) If Character A is 18 and Character B is 15, but they have known each other since both were under 18, then 2.b does not apply.
3. Adults of any age are permitted to enter relationships with one another, but there are exceptions to this:
3.a) The two characters cannot ever be together romantically or otherwise if Cat A is an adult (18+ moons) and meets Cat B as a newborn (0-3 moons). If Cat A is an adolescent (12-17) and meets Cat B as a kitten, and the meeting is brief/immemorable, an exception may be made.
3.b) If at any point Cat A is 3+ years old and meets Cat B as a minor (0-18 moons), those two characters cannot ever be together. Exceptions can be appealed if the meeting was brief/immemorable, but typically not.
4. Regarding accidental litters and the group's rules on consensual relationships:
Havensake does not allow non-consensual relationships or means of reproduction at all.
Characters reproducing in the group are only permitted to do so if all characters involved are consenting adults who know what they are doing and the possible repercussions of doing so. An accidental litter is defined as a litter that was not intentionally planned or conceived, more of a "surprise" than anything else. An accidental litter is not an excuse to bring in anything that would be considered a non-consensual act. We specifically do not allow the following: Taking asexual reproduction potions by mistake; The use of catnip or other hallucinatory drugs (or anything that would remove the consent from any or all of the involved parties) to reproduce; Manipulative relationships that result in litters; "Heat" plots (heats do not exist in Havensake, don't make it weird); etc. This list is not all-inclusive, and if you are uncertain of whether or not a plot is toeing the line, it's best to ask an admin before moving forward with it. Anyone found breaking this rule will be subject to punishment, as we don't take it lightly.
5. Polyamory, polygamy, and any and all LGBTQIA+ relationships are 100% permitted. Homophobia and things of that nature do not exist within the borders of Corondryx, and it is something the group does not condone as a whole. Havensake is completely open and accepting of all sexualities, genders, etc., and the Tribes feel no differently as a whole.
6. Cross-Tribe relationships (either dating or mateships) are permitted, so long as it does not become an issue. As mentioned before, mateships will be approved by leaders, but it’s uncommon for them to be rejected. A leader must have good cause to reject the love between cats, no matter the Tribe affiliation.
7. Tribes may have different ceremonies for things like mateship/marriage, QPPships, etc. These are up to the Tribe admin to decide, and details can usually be found in the Tribe’s culture doc!
8. Characters played by the same member may not enter romantic relationships together.
[Kittens, Litters, & Potions]
One of the most exciting things in some roleplayers’ lives is witnessing their character become a parent! Havensake tries to be as inclusive and semi-realistic as possible when handling litters, while still having fun! Make sure to read the rules below before heading over to the “Requesting Kittens” section!
1. Characters may roll for kittens beginning at 18 moons.
1.a) However, characters must be at least 21 moons old before requesting an accidental litter.
2. Characters must have been in the group for at least 2 months real-time before requesting a litter roll.
Additionally, characters may not come into the group already pregnant, though they may have 6+ month-old children who either remain out of the group or come in with them.
2.a) Players are expected to be active with their characters per the group’s rules (see the Rules journal) in order to roll for a litter.
3. Kittens in any litter may be given to an existing member or non-member.
However, the parent(s) must send in a note to the group with the usernames of the kittens’ RPers before promising kittens to anyone, so the admins may make sure those users are able to take on the character. Announcing tryout winners or guaranteeing kittens to those who have yet to be approved may result in punishment.
3.a) There is no limit to the number of nonmembers that can be introduced to the group via litter.
4. Litters consist of 1-6 kittens every single time.
We do not roll for “failed” or “miscarried” litters, and your character is assumed to have successfully conceived a litter once the roll has been carried out.
4.a) The only exception to this is if kittens are not sent in on time for review, in which case any kittens who are missing by the litter’s birth date may be considered stillborn.
5. Anyone receiving a kitten from a litter must finish the kitten’s full application and note it into the group no later than a week before the due date.
RPer lists must be sent in at least 1-2 days before this, or as soon as the parent(s) know who will be taking the kittens, so we have time to approve it.
6. Litters may be sired by up to three characters, physically or magically (see the potions section below).
In the case of a natural split litter, kittens will have the genes of either Cats A/B, Cats A/C, or Cats A/D, in which Cat A is the one carrying the litter.
7. Accidental litters cannot be used in tandem with the Asexual Reproduction, Artificial Insemination, or Genetic Blending potions- these are for planned litters only. Accidental litters may be conceived with the Temporary Reproduction Change potions if done tastefully and agreed upon between all characters involved.
8. Members will undergo a 2 month (8 week) overall cooldown whenever they roll a litter.
This is counted by weeks from the date the roll is done, not when the note is sent. For example, if a note was sent January 1st, and was replied to January 2nd, then the cooldown would end 8 weeks later, on February 27th.
8.a) Members may purchase cooldown reductions from the EXP shop, and should use the ‘weeks’ method to determine what % of cooldown they would need to roll another litter. For example, if my last roll was January 2nd, and I wanted to do a roll on January 16th, then my cooldown would be 75%. An admin can calculate this for you if you are having issues!
8.b) Members may not use a cooldown reduction to have more than 2 litters in any given season. This is counted per 2-month period/season, not per weeks- so if I rolled litters on January 2nd and January 16th, and the season rolled over on February 1st, I would be able to buy a 75% reduction to roll another litter on February 1st, but would not be able to roll any earlier than that.
8.c) Individual characters have their own litter cooldowns of 4 months/2 IC seasons. This is counted from when the kittens are born and is not tracked to the date like member cooldowns- rather, whenever a character’s kittens become 6 moons of age, they will be able to roll again. (For an extra long IE. If Yui has kittens on February 10th, and those kits get their tattoos in April, then her cooldown will end June 1st, when her kittens turn 6 moons old, and she can then roll again.)
9. If a member who is given a kitten must leave the group for any reason, if the kitten is under 6 months of age, the parents may give them to another player (member or nonmember, must be approved by admins).
If they are not adopted by another member, the kitten will be considered to have died or left.
9.a) Kittens over the age of 6 moons can be rehomed on a case-by-case basis, and are almost always automatically approved if the player willingly gives them up. If the player is removed from the group, then certain requirements must be met: the character has not been used in significant events (ie. gatherings, plots, Tribe events); the character has not been used at all or only briefly; and the parents and RPer agree to rehome the character. This must first be approved by admins and submitted via noting the group to be considered. If requirements are met and the exception approved, the kitten will retain its Tribe, branch, and rank, though Tribe and rank may be changed with IC explanations (please note characters must be 12+ moons to change Tribes). No fee will apply to changes unless they are going to a closed Tribe/rank, in which case the normal fee applies. Branch may not change. The design and personality of the kit should be different to respect the previous RPer.
9.b) Exceptions may be made to these rules in severe cases. If it should come that the parent(s) of a litter can no longer safely interact with the RPer of their kitten, regardless of age, it may be allowed for the kitten to be retconned in a sense. The original player will be allowed to retain their character, but they will be removed from the group until such time as the RPer can write a new history for them that does not include them as a member of their original family, and their design may need to be changed as well. The kitten slot can then be retconned entirely (ie. decreasing the number of kittens in the original litter, say from 4 to 3), or the slot may be given to another person to then craft a new kitten that is from the litter with the same Tribe/branch. Their history will need to be written just as any new character, and older characters may be expected to have longer histories. This is done on a case-by-case basis with approaching admins as the first step, and should only be used as a last resort for interpersonal issues.
10. Litter fees will be paid by all parents involved, biological or not.
Example 1: In an asexual litter, where there is only one parent raising the kits, the litter fee will be paid entirely by 1 player. Example 2: A normal litter consisting of 2 parents, in which the fee is split evenly between the 2 players. Example 3: An accidental litter between 2 characters is adopted by 2 other characters. All 4 players will split the litter cost.
11. Characters may not reproduce within the group if both characters are owned by the same player- however, the player may have one of their own characters adopt the other character’s kittens.
12. There is no limit to the number of kittens a character/pairing may have overall, so long as the other rules are followed.
This is subject to change if we notice someone having kittens too often.
13. Members may request the kittens’ sexes be rolled with the litter, but this is not a default.
Typically, it is up to the kitten’s RPer, but is left up to the discretion of the parents on how they’d like to handle it.
14. Kittens are born/found 1-2 months after the roll is requested.
ie. if a litter is requested on June 13th, then the litter may be born/found sometime between July 13th-August 13th.
14.a) Litters may not be born on the same day. Days that have already been claimed will be listed on the last page of the census.
14.b) Litters may not be born on the first or last 5 days of any given season. These dates are listed on the last page of the census.
[Potions]
There are several potions that can be purchased from the EXP shop and applied to litter rolls to change how the litter is conceived. These are as follows:
a. Reproductive Organ Change Potion (Temporary): Can be used for accidental or intentional litters. This allows a temporary reproductive organ change for one or more characters to achieve conception, typically between same-sex couples. A character who has their organs changed to carry a litter will have their organs reverted once the kittens have been delivered.
b. Reproductive Organ Change Potion (Permanent): Can be used for accidental or intentional litters. Though typically not used for conception, this is the permanent option of the two organ potions, typically used for transgender characters. Organs will not revert after having a litter.
c. Asexual Reproduction Potion: Can be used for intentional litters only. For characters who simply are not interested in conceiving by normal means. In Character- The potion is designed to react to a character's genes, producing kittens with a unique gene pool as though they had two biological parents, though they will only actually have one. Out of Character- The admins roll a completely random "parent" to pull genes from, to be combined with the biological parent as a typical pairing would. Though the kittens are born from only one biological parent, they are not clones, and will still look at least partially different from their parent. The character will still carry and deliver the litter through normal means.
d. Artificial Insemination Potion: Can be used for intentional litters only. This allows a character to carry a litter of kittens whose DNA consists of genetics not their own. While it is typically used as a means for surrogacy (ie. Cat A and Cat B are a couple, and wish to have kittens that share their DNA, but don't want to carry them, so Cat C carries the litter for them- the kittens do not share Cat C's DNA), it can also be used for polyamorous couples wanting their kittens to be a semi-blend of their genes (ie. Cats A, B, and C are in a relationship, and want each of their kittens to have 2 biological parents out of a mix of their genetics. While Cat C carries the litter, the kittens they produce will either be A/B, A/C, or B/C).
e. Genetic Blending Potion: Can be used for intentional litters only. This allows 3-4 characters to "blend" their genetics into a litter, allowing all kittens produced from that litter to have up to 4 biological parents. The kits can pull genes and designs from all of their biological parents. This is typically used for characters in polyamorous relationships. (Example- Cats A, B, and C are in a relationship. Cat C carries the litter. The kittens produced are all born from A/B/C's genetics.) This can be combined with the Artificial Insemination Potion to allow an uninvolved party to carry the litter for the others, but the kittens cannot have more than 4 biological parents (ie. Cats A, B, C, and D are in a relationship. They blend their genetics, but ask Cat E to carry their litter as a surrogate. The kittens produced are all born from A/B/C/D's genetics, not Cat E.)
f. Surrogacy Potion: Can be used for intentional litters only. Carefully crafted by the alchemists, a blend of the artificial insemination and asexual reproduction potions was created. This allows characters to do one of two things: 1. Create a litter between a pairing that is biologically theirs, but was conceived without any sexual acts being necessary (can be combined with the genetic blending potion for litters comprised of 3-4 parents, please list both potions if this is the case); or 2. Create a litter that is biologically comprised of one or more parents' DNA, but carried by an unrelated surrogate, without any sexual acts being necessary. Surrogates should still be listed in the litter roll request note, but they will not earn a cooldown (save for as long as it takes for the litter to be carried and birthed).
In-character, all of these potions are crafted by Light-Tribe’s alchemists, and can be acquired from them.
[Requesting Mateships]
All mateships must be approved by the admins via noting the group to be considered ‘official’ and for the characters to take on the ‘mate’ title. Leaders will often reply to the note in-character, but members may request exceptions for rps, headcanons, announcements, etc.

[How do Litter Rolls Work?]
For normal rolls (ie not half-sculpt or full-sculpt), we use a system based on type of roll (ie normal, accidental, etc), characters’ ages, seasons/weather, and members’ litter activity to determine how many kittens will be in the litter.
After the number of kittens are rolled (if applicable), we will roll the Tribes and branches. Numbers may be adjusted for Tribes/branches that are soft or hard closed. Kittens may be rolled into soft closed Tribes/branches at a disadvantage, but they cannot be rolled into anything that is hard closed.
After the RPer list is approved by the admins, kitten RPers may then begin to reserve their kits’ True names and ranks. These True name reserves do not count towards a member’s one free reserve and are listed on a separate doc. If a member does not know where their kit is going (a “blind” litter), they may make a list of what rank they’d like depending on the Tribe, and we’ll secretly reserve the proper rank for them.
