Energy Recovery - Air

Refers to systems used to recover energy during ventilation.

Why? Heat recovery systems work by drawing the heat energy from the extracted air systems and use it to preheat / pre-cool the fresh air supply into the space. The energy exchange is performed through a series of plates or a spiral wheel coil.

How? Heat recovery systems, especially the “Wheel” type, can draw back in extracted contaminated droplets and reintroduce them into the space increasing virous concentration and Spread.

Action?

1. Decrease, or stop the use of Heat recovery systems especially during epidemics.

2. Make sure that the extraction and supply points of Air Energy Recovery systems are as far apart as possible and pointing Down Wind.

3. Install UVGI lamps / Hydron Peroxide / Bipolar Ionisation systems at Supply intake or the supply Ducts.
