My full name is Guillem Belmar Viernes, though I often go by Guillem Belmar in publications and conferences.

I was born in Girona, a beautiful mid-sized town in Catalonia (see picture above). Catalan is my mother tongue, but I am also fluent in Spanish, English and French. I can also hold a conversation (to various degrees) in Galician, Portuguese, Italian, Occitan, Basque, Mandarin, West Frisian, Dutch and German.

My name is pronounced like [gi'ʎɛm] and my surname like [bel'maɾ]. I often go by Will in casual encounters, but prefer Guillem if we chat more than 5 minutes.
