About this garden: This Greenfield public park was envisioned in 2011, when Greenfield engaged the Conway School of Landscape Design to develop a plan "to create a vibrant and welcoming downtown that is enjoyable for residents, attracts visitors, supports local businesses, and is environmentally sustainable". In 2019, when retiree Wisty Rorabacher asked whether it would be OK to do some weeding of the gardens near the Fiske Avenue shops, she was directed to the town planner Eric Twarog. He responded by pulling the Conway School plans to rehabilitate the area off the shelf. A large grant from the AARP was obtained to support the seniors working on the gardens, and a cascade of activity resulted in the creation of a new native plant garden on a previously untended hillside. Greenfield's new pocket park is now complete, teeming with native plants and insects. See Recorder articles 2020, 2022.
