Chapman Street Community Gardens

Across the street from 38 Chapman Street

Volunteers welcome!

About this garden:

The Chapman Street Community Garden was started in the summer of 2021 on the abandoned lot across the street from Looky Here at 28 Chapman Street.  Friends of Looky Here collaborated with friends of the Recovery Learning Community (also located on Chapman street) to build raised garden beds, paint signs, and maintain a pick-your-own vegetable garden for the local community. All of the plants as well as lumber and water were donated throughout the summer. Looky Here is reaching out to the community for volunteers who want to help with planting, weeding, and watering throughout the gardening season.

The Looky Here website hosts a page for the Chapman Street garden where interested volunteers have been able to post questions and ideas for the garden or make donations to the project.  Note that this land is currently owned by Wilson’s Department store (now closed), and its use is “temporary” and not guaranteed with the redevelopment of the Wilson's property as the site of Green Fields Food Coop and mixed-income housing.

Volunteer opportunities: Volunteers are welcome!!!

Please check out the calendar on the Looky Here website or join a weekly meeting any Saturday at 1pm.
