Ingredients for the recipe
3 pieces of toast, crumbed
Syrup:6 cups of water6 cups sugar
In a large bowl mix the walnuts, almonds, toast crumbs, sugar, cinnamon powder, and clove to form the filling. Put the oil into a little bowl, dip your fingers into it, and pull out the pastry strands.
By this means, the pastry receives as much oil as it needs, evenly distributed. Now take a little of it, put a spoonful of the filling on it, and roll it up to form a sausage.
Repeat until all the filling and pastry have been used, and then place the rolls in a dish close to each other.
When the dish is full, sprinkle over a little water.
Bake in a moderate oven for about half an hour until the rolls begin to brown.
Care is needed, as the pastry burns easily.
Remove the dish from the oven, and prepare the syrup by mixing all the ingredients in a saucepan and bringing them to a boil a few times until the syrup thickens.
When it is ready and still hot, pour it over the rolls, cover them, and allow them to cool.
