Broken Brothers
Peeking 'round the corner, I see him in his chair,
Unsuspecting, unaware, he doesn't see me standing there.
My mouth curls into a mischievous grin,
As I take aim and focus on his chin.
Without a thought, without a care,
I squeeze the trigger that shoots water through the air.
It splatters across his sleeping face,
A squeal of delight betrays my hiding place.
But in an instant, all my fun
shatters like my broken gun.
Glee turns to cries
as tears sting my burning eyes,
A bond lies broken on the floor—
to a brother stomping out the door.
