8B) understands the collaborative process and the skills necessary to initiate and carry out that process;
The collaboration that happens between staff members is important. They help you realize if things are working or if you need to fix something. Some teachers get support and advice that can be used to help you in the future. PLC is a good example of standard 8 because it pinpoints the key proponent, which is communication.
What i learned from this experience is that you can't do the best job as a teacher without support. In teaching you need others to help you do your job better as will they. Working together will help the school environment and the lessons for the student.
In students teaching, I worked with my cooperating early on to help develop lessons and worksheets that would be suitable for the students to learn from. the document attached is one of the many that we worked together to develop for the lessons. I liked working with him to secure that all students were going to be supported when learning.
8G) understands the various models of co-teaching and the procedures for implementing them across the curriculum;
While my cooperating teacher wasn't a co teacher he definitely facilitated as one. He was there to work with me to design assignments and ideas that worked well to teach lessons for the students. When we were working to get me as the head of the classroom, there was a point where we were both teaching in front of the class as an equal partnership.
The important lesson learned here is how to work with another adult to complete the vision for the classroom. Its not easy trying to delegate work with another adult. The important part of co teaching is the flexibility that you need to have to keep a healthy relationship with the other staff member.
