Imagine of Anime Club's Christmas Tree 2022
This year during my student teaching I had the pleasure of sponsoring Anime Club. It was a wonderful experience taking part of the school culture outside of teaching. As a Special education teacher in a self-contained classroom, you don't get much exposure to meeting with students in the general education setting. What I appreciated about being a club sponsor was being able to work with both populations. Anime Club has brought me happiness because I can teach students about the culture of anime and why I find it interesting. Some lessons learned through sponsoring clubs is how students interact with staff members. Students gain a sense of respect for staff members when you can relate on a different level that isn't strictly educational. I hope to be able to partake in other clubs in the future as an educator.
Class Trip to a Pumpkin Patch
Student teaching is an experience I will never forget. I remember reflecting about how my student teaching experience would be before I started. I thought that I wouldn't be able to handle a classroom of students or that I wouldn't be able to feel comfortable teaching in front of students I was unfamiliar with. These feeling were prevalent at the beginning but disappeared as I continued the program. Student teaching has to taught me that every day is something different. Patience and acceptance while working with students is needed and regulating your own emotions is imperative. Working with staff can ease the difficulties of the education setting but most importantly have fun and enjoy your time working with the students.
