Kindness is the act of doing something selflessly without the need for repayment. This video was a great reminder how little acts of kindness go a long way. I feel that many people go through these same scenarios daily but are too busy dealing with their own lives to help. The man in the video would routinely practice acts of kindness and never asked for anything in return even when he knew that he put himself in a bad situation financially. While this is a difficult thing to practice the intrinsic value that you receive from people is priceless. For the people out there that help, just know you are making a difference even if it's not automatically recognized.
Maybe one of these days, you can pay it forward. Try paying for someones coffee next in line at the drive thru, it might just make a terrible morning much better.
What is inspiration? It's what gets you up in the morning. It's the driving force that gets you to accomplish your day-to-day tasks and plan for your future. A life without inspiration is a life without color. This video was a perfect example of many ways you can find inspiration in your life. I feel people always search for inspiration in others to give themselves a reason to prosper. The video tried to explain that you should be your own inspiration. Many things that affect us are only because we allow ourselves to get caught up in the moment. In the future our students are going to need to learn this important lesson. It will be our job as educators to serve as their inspiration so they can learn to be confident in themselves.
What are some ways that you as a teacher can inspire your students to have ambition in learning?
The spark of a new idea, the implementation of a skill or study are all forms of innovation. It is problem solving at the core and helps others to become more creative. In the world outside of the classroom the idea of innovation comes in the forms of inventing something new that can help solve a problem. In the classroom innovation is seen when a teacher comes up with a new way to teach a student something they don't understand. Innovation in the classroom can be when little Johnny figures out a way to do something that we didn't think of. Something that recently has change in the school setting that was very Innovative was the pedagogy known as a flipped classroom. The practice of increasing our innovation and our student's innovation is important and should always be practiced. It can make a difficult classroom situation into something progressive and helpful in the future.
What innovative idea can you do in your classroom to help solve the lack of enthusiasm in students potentially?
Failure is something that everyone is afraid of. People don't like taking risks for fear of not accomplishing what they set out to do. In the school setting it's the same concept. You will always find things you want to do but you may be afraid of failing so you don't try. If i have learned anything from my past teachers is that it's okay to fail. You will fail in the future it's almost a guarantee, but you shouldn't be afraid. You need these experiences in order to grow and learn to make your classroom better. There is always room to grow which also means there is room for failure, but it will be as positive as you let it be. Just like the video states fail forward because that way you will never truly fail again.
This last multimedia choice is very different from the others I selected before. Joy is a very powerful emotion that I would say brings out the most in a person. I selected the music video by Bastille because music is one of the many ways I get joy throughout my life. There is always a million things going on around the world and its hard to maintain a positive attitude around all the chaos. When you find that thing that brings you joy, it can pull you out of the worst situations. In the future as a teacher you may be that joy that students look for to make their day better. Try to make the most of that ability because that can change a students life.
How will you try to bring joy into your students life?
