Gordon College has the distinction of being the pioneer in disseminating the education in the discipline of Botany in the region of Potohar. The history of this department dates back to 1911 when Prof. Ralph Randles Stewart, an American Botanist, joined this college as a teacher of Botany. Prof. Stewart’s extensive work in exploring the flora of the areas included in Pakistan and using the findings of his work to enrich the herbarium of Gordon College, attracted the students of Botany from everywhere across Indian Subcontinent. After the commencement of BS program in 2010, this department started offering BS in Botany. The Department of Life Sciences is headed by Mr. Asif Hanif, at present, with a devotion to impart quality education in this subject. The department is pivotal in enriching the plantation inside the premises of the college and ensuring cleanliness to ward off any risk of the viral diseases.
