Starfighters have two sets of battlestations, depending on whether they are able to fly or are stuck on the ship. The battlestations are as follows:
When Starfighters are in the Sky:
DEFCON 4: All Starfighter personnel stop all activities and go to the Secondary Hangar Bay to ready their ships.
DEFCON 3 & 2: Starfighters engage enemies and protect the ship while in airspace.
DEFCON 1: 2-3 Starfighters transport troops from the MHB to a safe location while the remaining Starfighters provide cover fire for the transports.
When Starfighters are Grounded:
DEFCON 4 & 5: Starfighter personnel assigned to Station Detail assist Naval personnel and perform supply runs, maintenance patrols, conduct repairs, and perform engineering diagnostics or repair duties.
DEFCON 2 & 3: Starfighter personnel assigned to Station Detail operate the Turbolaser systems or conduct emergency repairs on critical systems.
Starfighters only have one sub-branch, Onyx Squadron, whose pilots specialize as close-air bombers supporting ground troops. Members of Onyx Squadron are expected to be the best-performing Starfighters in the Empire and exude only the best qualities a pilot should have. They are to be ordered to carry out dangerous tasks in the airspace, such as providing danger close air support, engaging targets that are better equipped/outnumber the Onyx pilots, and laying down their lives to carry out attacks on enemy cruisers.Â
Imperial Security Officers can take temporary command of the Starfighter if there is a lack of Officer+ to lead them. While deployed in airspace, they can give out orders to Starfighters, such as calling out ships for them to target and tasking pilots to defend other ships. On DEFCON 2, they should select two people to be transported in case of DEFCON 1. In the case of a mission on a planet, they should select 1-2 people to fly transport for the entire mission while the remaining Starfighters use the Ground armor job and be on the front lines. While not in airspace, Starfighters can be tasked with Naval sectors.
