During an attack on the Imperial Star Destroyer (ISD), the Stormtrooper Corps is deployed to defend the courtyard at DEFCON 3 and the pits at DEFCON 2. In addition, the Corps has various sub-specialties such as Tank Troopers and Scout Troopers who perform specialized tasks in defense and attack operations.
Off-ship operations require the Stormtrooper Corps to be stationed on the front line, making them the first of the Empire's personnel to see contact. To aid them in this battle, they are equipped with the standard E-11 blaster rifle. However, each sub-branch of the Stormtrooper Corps has its own specific objectives and equipment to complete its respective tasks.
Tank Troopers are a specialized type of Stormtrooper responsible for patrolling key points of the Empire's interests with heavy armament and vehicles. They have their own battalion within the Stormtrooper Corps and a separate command team that works alongside Stormtrooper command. Tank Troopers can provide ground support, transport troops on the ground, set up fortifications, and fight on the front lines.
Storm Commandos are a heavily specialized sub-branch of the Stormtrooper Corps. They are trained in recon, espionage, and close to long-range combat engagements. The Storm Commandos are a highly classified combat group with little known about their specific missions. However, they are able to attend special operation missions as well as guard personnel part of the Senior Commander program. Storm Commandos can carry out special operation missions, scout/provide overwatch, and eliminate high-value targets.
Scout Troopers are a specialized sub-branch of the Stormtrooper Corps. They specialize in long-range combat and surveillance, and are typically seen on high vantage points of key areas across the ISD or any Imperial-occupied planet. Scout Troopers are a key component of the Stormtrooper Corps, allowing for engagement at longer ranges, and assisting in reconnaissance and communication during certain operations.
In the event of a lack of Officers within the Stormtrooper Corps, Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) personnel are authorized to take temporary command of the battalion. However, it is crucial for all ISB personnel to understand the expectations during this temporary command period. Regular Stormtroopers should always be stationed at the courtyard during an attack on the ISD during DEFCON 3, defending the pits on DEFCON 2, and on the front lines during an off-ship operation.
It's important to note that taking temporary command of the Stormtrooper Corps does not mean taking command of Tank Troopers. The ISB should coordinate with the Tank Trooper's separate command team if ground support is required.
