Backgrounds and Social Groups

In the Schoolgirl Start and Cursed Schoolgirl Start, your character has a background as a member of one of several social groups. Your choice of social group affects your beginning reputation with the population of Pavlovsk, and also carries with it unique benefits and drawbacks to your starting skills and equipment.

Social Groups

There are four main social groups: The cool kids, the jocks, the nerds, and the gopniks. There is also a fifth group, the outcasts, consisting of people that don't fit in with any other group.

The PC has a standing with each of the four major social groups, which is affected by the PC's actions. If their standing with their current social group goes below 20, they will be kicked out and become an outcast. If their standing with another social group goes above 80, they will be invited to join.

If the PC is invited to join a social group and refuses, her standing with that group will be decreased by 30-50 points. If she accepts, there may be some sort of initiation event (only for gopniki) and her standing with the other groups will be decreased.

If the PC is kicked out of her social group, her standing with that group will be set to zero, and her standing with the other social groups will be decreased by up to 50 points.

If the PC's slut reputation in Pavlovsk is higher than 175, the word "slut" will be spray-painted on the PC's locker. She will be kicked out of her current social group, if she is a nerd (other groups have higher treshholds: cool kids>225, jocks>250, gopniki>300) and her standing with all the social groups will be set to zero.

Here's a list how to earn respect from a certain clique.

School uniforms

When the PC arrives at school each day, she is subjected to a uniform check. This applies even if you've turned on the cheat that removes the requirement to wear a school uniform.

What the PC is wearing affects her standing with the various social groups and, if it breaches regulations, earns demerits and sex reputation:

Personalities / Backgrounds

Each social group is further divided into several personality types. For example, in the Athletes and Jocks social group you could be a Volleyball Player, Avid Dancer, Runner, or Football Player. Each personality further focuses the benefits and drawbacks to your starting skills and equipment, such as a computer for the Computer Geek start, or volleyball lessons for the Volleyball Player start.

The social groups and personality types are:

Nerds

Jocks

Cool Kids

Gopniks
