Closings, early dismissals, or delayed arrival policies due to inclement weather for NFATC are determined by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). OPM has issued guidance on its Governmentwide Dismissal and Closure Procedures . The most up-to-date Washington, DC area operating status can be found on OPM's website or by following them on X (Twitter) @USOPM.
Prior to Day One of Orientation: If there is a weather-related OPM delay or closure on the first day of Orientation, PERT/TAC and FS Orientation will contact your personal email with further instructions. If federal agencies are open, but you are experiencing travel delays and aren't able to arrive at NFATC for the start of Orientation, please contact both PERT/TAC at TACFSNewHire@state.gov and the Orientation team at FSOrientation@state.gov as soon as possible for further instructions.
During Orientation: Once Foreign Service Orientation begins, Orientation staff will provide you with further guidance regarding inclement weather procedures during your training at NFATC.
