A State Department-run shuttle stops at the following locations:
State Department Building (HST) - C St Entrance
N. Ft Myer Drive & Wilson Blvd (Rosslyn Metro)
N. Pierce St & Wilson Blvd going west N. Pierce & Clarendon going east (to service the Oakwood Rosslyn)
NFATC - E Building Entrance (Old Main)
NFATC - Visitor Center
A map of the route with the stops labeled is below, as well as a schedule for both the full and express routes.
NFATC/Rosslyn/HST Shuttles
If you caught the shuttle at the Main State at 7:40 A.M. or from the Rosslyn metro at 7:50 A.M., for example, you'd reach the NFATC Visitor Center by 8:15 A.M.
Additional buses run a shorter "express" route just between NFATC and Rosslyn Metro (and do not proceed to HST).
(Updated schedule added December 10, 2025)
There is a small white sign indicating the location of these shuttle stops, and there should be a large and obvious group of people waiting with government badges. The buses are either white or black and bear little resemblance to regular public transportation and usually have a sign reading “NFATC” in the front window or near the door. Be prepared to show your Department of State ID as you board the shuttle. Only those with a REAL ID, Diplomatic Passport, or escorted by an ID-holder may ride the shuttle. Your spouse may ride the shuttle with you if you show the driver your badge and “escort” him/her. For those without badges, please bring government-issued photo REAL ID PLUS the email from PERT/TAC showing your participation in an NFATC course.
Keep in mind that scheduled departure times are approximate. Shuttles frequently arrive and depart ahead of or behind schedule, depending on traffic conditions.
The shuttles fill up, especially during the morning and evening rush hours. It is a good idea to arrive at the shuttle stop ahead of time. In the event the shuttle is full, cabs are generally available in front of the Metro station or at the Hyatt near the Rosslyn shuttle stop.
There are two westbound (towards NFATC) shuttle stops in the Rosslyn Area.
The first one, closest to the Rosslyn metro, is on the west side of Fort Myer Drive (across Fort Myer upon exiting the metro station), just on the northwest corner of the intersection of N. Fort Myer Dr. and Wilson Blvd.
The second Rosslyn shuttle stop is at 1601 Wilson Blvd., on the north side of the street between North Pierce and North Quinn streets.
The first stop is 1550 Clarendon Blvd at the intersection of North Pierce Street. (This is the site of the Cortland Apartments.)
The second, closest to the Rosslyn metro, is on the west side of Fort Myer Drive (across Fort Myer upon exiting the metro station), just on the northwest corner of the intersection of N. Fort Myer Dr. and Wilson Blvd.
