Water

This lecture, I hope will set the Scene, I will expands as I learn more or find better resources,

We waste water, we contaminate it, and miss use it, In this lecture I introduce the concept of SUDs, to save water, use it correctly, and how we clean it

Is all water fit for human consumption, no, the bulk of water on this planet is not fit for drinking , we need to understand the difference

In the expanded Lecture on SUDS I look at the end game, the water treatment plands and Sewage Plants the surround just about every city and Town

I include this slide set as part of an article I have written on the harvesting of rainwater, which we collect between October and March, but the actual  amount is a lot less than the rain that actualy falls, some 19% less due to the plant life, leaks and natural absortion that leaks eventualy to the rivers and hence the sea.

The sponge effect and the natural water table is an important part of understanding the eccology of Water

Under Expansion

The idea that rivers should be trapped in specific routes between steel piling or concrete walls has never worked, the moment  a rainstorn hits the river the river starts to swell, and needs to run faster or expand. It cant expand and its speed is limited, so the level rises, and it will eventualy break free over the barriers.  But there was always a way to solve this was to allow the river to spill into specific fields known as Water Medows. This lecture explores the water meadow and the many plus points it brings to farming and the river. Its in the process of being developed, so hang in there as I finish it.

Its clear that we need to store water during the harvest season for water, Oct - March. In this slide set I take a look at the current reserves 

A method now gaining popularity is Desalination, it has its problems in the vast use of energy, and the salt silt left behind, but as always the more its used the better it gets, and solar power is becoming interesting, and the salt left behind has other minerals worth caspturing

Rivers as perhaps one of the oldest sources of water, food and transport

Wells have for centuiries been the only source of water. They are limited in depth and quality of water, and volume

Canals may be seen as hiden waterways, and cycle paths, but they were the transport revolution of the Industrrial Revolution,. Nopw they offer relaxation for boating, a way to allow street drainage to refill tier water levels, and because they often enter the hearts of so many cities, they offer a cooling efect to City Heat Sinks
