Frog Up or Down
A Think Tank
Welcome to A Think Tank Web site. My name is Steve Scaysbrook, as sole Trader, often know as Scays.and I am the sole propriator of this small dedicated Think Tank.
My Think Tank is primerily an ideas forum, a place to develop construction detailing, materials and building methods. This is also a holding site for all of my lectures on Architectural Technology, from construction Detailing, to CAD and beyond as we venture into BIM, and beyond.
My slides are aimed at AT students studying for their degree in Architectural Technology, Masters students studying Intergrated Digital Design, as well as students starting out at Btech level advancing to HNC, but also for anyone in the construction industry wanting a conversation or method on detailing
The site is in progress and I am adding slides as I think of them or requested by students
What and why "Frog Up or Down, its a play on an old brickwork problem should you lay bricks with a frog in the brick fascing up or down, answer is up .
Bit it consumes more mortar, so some older projects the frog was placed facing down and the flat base facing up, and therefore not consuming so much mortar.
Who am I, well I am Steve Scaysbrook, an Architectural Construction Technologist, Author, Futurist, Lecturer and Detailer.
I have worked on many different types of building work, both modern buildings and Historic Heritage buildings, at some of the major Architect Practices in the West Midland, together with a long period at a global insulation manufacturer designing new materials and technicaly supporting a global market.
I was a Visiting Profesor of Architectural Technology at Birmingham City University in the faculty of Computing, Engineering & the Built Environment, concentrating on Heritage, Intergrated digital design and a lot of General detailing.
Before the role of Lecturer, I was a Chartered Architechnologist working in many practices, and for a long period as Technical Manager for the Dow Chemical Company, in the construction Products department, handling Styrofoam, all over Europe.
I now run this site as a repository of all my knowledge of 55 years or more, and as a Think Tank on Construction Detailing and material use.
I also use this site to air detailing concepts, and my rewriting on Mitchells Construction books.
This site is written in Google Sites, an easy to use, and quite powerfull web site development app that comes free with your Google gmail account, So I might add is the publishing of the site, with an easy to generate URL, I use both the Google generated URL and I own Frog-Up-or-down.co.uk domain, with a forward to the Google site.
