In this section, I introduce the Door; its use is manyfold, from security to just plain beauty, to performance resisting fire, sound, and air pressure. In this series of lecture notes, I look at as many as I can, exploring the need, the use and often the art.

In this opening lecture, I look at doors in general.

A look says so much about the owner or the use of the building, it may be a little fun, a head looking down the street, a door knocker a push plate, a kicker plate ir even a key hole.
