Supernova has been unseated! This is not a drill! I repeat— Supernova has been unseated!
So, Amanda is awesome and brought me new Dews two days in a row: Baja Passionfruit Punch on Thursday (review already posted) and Baja Caribbean Splash on Friday. I’m doing my write-up for Baja Caribbean Splash a couple days late because we’ve been at Live Oak all weekend, not because I didn’t like it or forgot about it. Quite the opposite, in fact.
When it comes to my Dew rankings, I’ve always put Typhoon at 1st place and Supernova at 2nd place. These rankings have held pretty firm since 2011, but I’m afraid that after tasting Baja Caribbean Splash, I have to drop Supernova down to 3rd place. Supernova still carries a lot of sentimental attachment for me, but Baja Caribbean Splash is just straight-up more delicious.
As I mentioned in my review for Baja Passionfruit Punch, my preferences tend to skew towards the fruity/punchy flavors. This one certainly falls under that category, plus it has the iconic and euphoric taste of Baja Blast perfectly blended into it. Bearing in mind that it’s a guava Dew, I was already pretty sure I’d love it, (Atomic Guava is my favorite beer from Liquid Gravity), but I definitely underestimated how much.
I cannot recommend Baja Caribbean Splash enough. It’s refreshing, slightly tangy, perfectly sweet, and absolutely magical in that special way that only a summertime Mountain Dew can be.
Note: Amanda is my friend/former coworker who would frequently surprise me by leaving bottles of new Dew flavors on my desk. Live Oak is a very popular local music festival / camping event. Liquid Gravity is a fantastic local brewery.
