According to family legend, when my mom was pregnant with me, she would get MAJOR Taco Bell cravings. To nobody's surprise, after I was born, Taco Bell ended up being my favorite fast food restaurant. (Curtis says that I'm a "Taco Bell crack baby.") Considering my relationship with Taco Bell and the fact that Baja Blast was specifically engineered to go perfectly with their food, it's only natural that this flavor holds such a dear place in my heart.
Baja Blast is unlike any other beverage that existed before. Even the color is very distinctive. The official description is "tropical lime," but that doesn't even begin to cover it, in my opinion. I genuinely don't know how to articulate what Baja Blast tastes like, because I have absolutely no idea what I would compare it to. Whoever created this formula truly is an artist.
I don't remember when I first tasted Baja Blast, but I do remember how excited I was when it had its first retail release. The social media posts referenced above weren't just talking about Baja Blast itself— they were specifically written to celebrate my first time getting my hands on the bottled version. Like many other Dew fans, I saw the occasion as an incredible win for us Baja lovers. This flavor is a cult classic for very good reason, and out of all the restaurant exclusive flavors, I would say Baja Blast deserved a retail release the most.
Additionally, there are other ways to enjoy Baja Blast besides bottled, canned, or fresh from the Taco Bell fountain. The Baja Blast Freeze is everything wonderful about the original, just in a different form. Also, like Maui Burst and Baja Gold, this flavor is fantastic mixed with Malibu Rum. I call that cocktail a "Malidew."

I would argue that Baja Blast is the most iconic of all Dew flavors, even with OG Dew taken into consideration. My Taco Bell addiction may make me slightly biased, but I believe that Baja Blast deserves every bit of hype that it gets.
