As Seen in the Wall Street Journal (you are here)
Yes, yes, I know what you're wondering: How on earth did I end up in the Wall Street Journal because of Mountain Dew?
It all started with this tweet, which I will transcribe below:
(Side note: The fact that I was wearing a Mountain Dew hoodie when I took that picture was total coincidence!)
To my surprise, I received a response from Heather Haddon, a restaurant reporter from the Wall Street Journal. She asked me to DM her if I was "up for chatting about" it. I found the situation amusing, so I decided to message her.
It turned out she was working on a story about restaurants experiencing cup shortages due to all the supply chain issues that were going on at the time. She mistakenly thought that I worked in the food industry, and that my tweet was referring to cups for our customers. When I explained what I actually did for a living and that the cups in question were just the ones kept in the break room for employees, I expected her to lose interest since my circumstances didn't really fit the focus of her article. However, apparently she was just as amused as I was, and she surprised me again by saying she'd love to include my photo in the story.
The full article can be found here, but unfortunately there is a paywall. Luckily, a friend of mine took screenshots of the part where I was mentioned, which can be seen below:
I have to say, as someone with a journalism degree, this is definitely not the way I envisioned myself getting into the Wall Street Journal!
