The Mechanical team (currently known as the Intake team) is responsible for maintaining the physical shape and mechanisms of the robot itself. They primarily are seen working on the robot directly or working on something to attach onto the bot later. They also do 3D modeling as well as modeling and planning on how to build or improve the robot.
Programming team is responsible for maintaining the digital aspect of Robotics and wiring the mechanisms of the robot. They are primarily seen all around, whether it be working on code on a desk far away or right next to it testing code in real-time. They also maintain the software for the robot and computers used to work on it.
Drive Team is responsible for effectively driving the robots at competitions and showings. Usually this is a secondary role and is not the focus, so they are usually seen doing whatever other job they prefer to. They also maintain the driver station and making real-time fixes.
The Outreach Department is responsible for working on extra things without directly working on the robot. They design webpages, shirts, buttons, and other forms of media open to the public to represent Team 5430! They also work on finances, grant writing, and presentations to elementary & middle schools and council boards. They are commonly seen planning presentations, writing grants, and presenting to other schools.
The Workshop department manages the tools and items in the workshop's inventory and focuses on the safety of team members working on the robot. They may not work directly with the robot, but they are essential to maintaining the workshop and letting the mechanical team maintain and build them.
