Outdoor activities are fun whenever they take place, but in Girl Scouting the girls should take as much planning, doing and evaluation responsibility as their experience allows them. Facilitating girls taking on responsibility is what Girl Scouting is all about. However, the leader needs to supervise based on the Girl Scout level of experience and ensure risk and safety management is in place.
In general, adults will be responsible for making most of the arrangements for the experience for the younger Girl Scouts. Adults should engage the girls in the planning, and explain what is being done and why. Involvement of girls in carrying out these tasks should take place whenever possible, but the ultimate responsibility is with the leader.
