Outdoor Training Certificate Program

Welcome to the USAGSO Outdoor Programs Interactive Website. We appreciate all you do as volunteers and are committed to providing you with all the necessary resources to help you and your troop have fun and safe outdoor experiences!  

This site welcomes two groups; USAGSO members who are completing their outdoor training certification and volunteers who are looking to refresh their knowledge. Remember, all volunteers who take girls on an outdoor adventure must be certified.  

For visitors looking to refresh their knowledge or skills, please use the navigation bar on the left to find the info you need. If you have any questions, please contact Customer Care. 

For those working on their outdoor training certificate, we recommend that you read through all the info on this site and watch all the videos. This may take half a day or more to complete. After passing the knowledge check, visit the ‘Achievements’ tab on the left side of your gsLearn homepage to download your certificate. You can then start taking girls on outdoor adventures!  

As a certified volunteer, you will be able to:  

• Take girls on outdoor days trip such as hikes and cook-outs 

• Build and maintain safe campfires  

• Prepare meals outdoors 

• Lead girls on overnight camping trips 

This course may also available as an in-person training. Unlike the online training that focuses on knowledge building, the in-person training emphasizes how to teach the skills through various activities and play. Interested communities can submit a request for an in-person training in their area. Requests are reviewed and accepted where possible.
