Devon, envious of Kelsey told him to hop inside the Golden Freddy suit. Devon simply wanted to leave him, but it went horribly wrong as the springlocks activated, killing Kelsey. Devon was horrified and had nightmares following this incident.

This can be called back to FNaF 4 where the Bite Kid's brother pulled a prank on him by stuffing him into Fredbear's mouth, which resulted in the Bite of '83. If Michael is the actual protagonist in FNaF 4's gameplay and it was all a nightmare, this is connect back with Devon's case.
