Primary (or preparatory) schools in the UK are designed for students up to 13 years old. Though most preparatory schools are day schools, there are boarding options available for families that are sending their children from overseas.
Entry requirements for preparatory schools tend to be less rigid, and generally involve an interview with the parents and child. However, given that these schools cater for children of a younger age, care and safeguarding requirements are normally stricter. Making a decision to send your child overseas in their pre-adolescent years should always be carefully considered, balancing the education opportunities to the child with their social development as part of a family unit.
Our team are always happy to discuss options with you and review what schools would work best for your child and, just as importantly, when would be the best age for them to make the transition.
