Exam Preparation

The Feifan team has over 25 years experience helping young learners prepare for exams. Whether preparing for the IELTS assessment, a private school entrance exam or a specialised university admissions test, we are here to help. 

Secondary School Examinations

Many independent schools run variations of the 11+ or 13+ exams to assess applicants abilities and make selections. These exams generally contain some or all of the following:

• Mathematics 

• English (reading & writing)

• Non-verbal aptitude

• Verbal aptitude

The school may also have a voluntary assessment of your drama, music &/or sporting ability as part of the application. 

University Admissions

Most UK university will ask any international student to demonstrate that they are competent in using English. This may be assessed informally through interviews and documentation if you are applying from an English speaking country. If you are not a native English speaker you will likely be asked to complete the IELTS assessment. 

In addition, the university you are applying for will assess your academic background through your school grades. If you have followed an education system different to those recognised or used in the UK (e.g. GCSE / A-Level) the university will use UCAS equivalency tables to assess your capabilities. This may include asking you to complete additional assessments specific to the course you are applying for.
