Managing Facebook ads is a full-time job in itself. Facebook’s Business Manager tool, with its plethora of features, can be difficult to navigate.
Nonetheless, some features are very easy to use and allow you to spend a little extra money to boost your posts’ visibility.
Quick tip: manage your ads on a computer. Cell phones, while convenient, do not display all the features.
So-called organic posts (without boosted distribution) do not generate very high visibility. This is due to changes to the Facebook algorithm.
Spending a few dollars increases the visibility of your posts in the news feeds of targeted users.
Unfortunately, Facebook is no longer the free advertising tool it used to be.
This depends on many factors, such as duration, time of year, and size of target audience.
For example, a store in Laval would likely have to pay a little more to reach the same number of users as a store in Rouyn-Noranda. This is unsurprising, as Laval’s population base is much larger.
Remember that when you buy advertising, you are trying to occupy advertising space. You are not the only one vying for this space, however, and Facebook will award it to the highest bidder.
For reference:
How much you spend is up to you, but if the amount is not high enough, Facebook may not be able to make full use of your ads.
If you are comfortable using Business Manager, you can view your ads, optimize them, manage your audiences, and more. The tool is more complete and gives you a lot more options.
However, if you only want to spend a little money from time to time, you can use the “Boost” feature. Simply click “Boost Post.”
Define your target audience by selecting a region, language, and age group.
Quick tip: make sure you do not add too many parameters, otherwise your reach will be too narrow.
Let’s say your page has a potential reach of 3,000 people in your community. You decide to target Francophones aged 25 to 45 who have young children. Chances are your audience will be fewer than 1,000 people. Sometimes it’s better to cast a wider net.
Define the budget and duration.
According to your budget, Facebook will give you an estimate of how many people you could reach.
At the very end, select the payment method. You must use a credit card.
