All students (except for Korean passport holders) are required to obtain the study abroad D-2-6 or D-2-8 Visa prior to their arrival to Korea. Ewha will cancel your admission for those who enter Korea without a D-2-6 or D-2-8 visa.
- Exchange & ISEP Exchange Student: D-2-6
- Visiting & ISEP Direct Student: D-2-8
- Korean Passport Holder: No need to apply for D-2-6 or D-2-8 visa
- K-ETA is not valid.
If you apply after the semester begins, the Immigration Office may reject your visa application, or charge you a late penalty fee. If you have a different type of visa, you must immediately apply for the change of visa to either D-2-6 (Exchange/ISEP Exchange) or D-2-8 (Visiting/ISEP Direct).
If you do not enroll in any courses during the registration period, the International Exchange Affairs Team will be obligated to report this to the Immigration Office to revoke your visa. Your visa will automatically be expired and you must leave Korea within 15 days from the date of application. If not, you will be reported as an illegal immigrant and the Immigration Office will not approve of future visa applications.
You must report any changes on your visa status to the International Exchange Affairs Team.
Although each local Korean Embassy/Consulate may require different documents, the following are commonly required for D-2-6 or D-2-8 visa:
1) the Letter of Admission, 2) the Certificate of Admission, and 3) the Certificate of Business Registration.
1) The Letter of Admission: You will be able to print this letter on your own on the application page, once your application is accepted.
2) The Certificate of Admission (CoA): The CoA for Spring semester will be issued around Mid-December to late December, early January at the latest. To issue the CoA, you will be asked to submit the required documents. Details will be announced on the communication channel later.
3) The Certificate of Business Registration (of Ewha): Will be available on the communication channel later.
Please check with your local Korean Embassy/Consulate to learn more about what other documents are needed.
If you are already in Korea with a short-term stay visa (for travelers from a country with a visa exemption agreement) or a different visa (e.g., D-4 visa), you will need to apply for a change of status to D-2-6 or D-2-8 study abroad visa in order to register as an exchange or visiting student at Ewha.
If you are already in Korea with a D-2-6 or D-2-8 visa, and will be staying in Korea without changing the status of stay, you may apply for an extension of stay from 4 months before the expiration date. Make sure to apply for an extension of stay up until a month before the visa expires.
