Dormitory FAQs
[Dormitory Applications & Room Announcements]
Q1. How can I apply for the dormitory?
A1. You can apply for on-campus housing while filling out the application form (application page). There is no separate page for dormitory application.
Q2. Am I guaranteed to get a room?
A2. Rooms are allocated to the students on a first come-first served basis. Incomplete or cancelled application will not be considered. Also, if your home university or the study abroad organization established an agreement to guarantee the on-campus housing, you will be guaranteed a double room spot.
Q3. Will my preference (single/double) be considered?
A3. Your preference (single/double) indicated at the application will be used, but not guaranteed. Also, you cannot change the room type once rooms are assigned. If you have any pre-existing conditions, major illness, mental or emotional health issues that specifically require a single room, please email us to goabroad@ewha.ac.kr, with documents to prove (e.g., a doctor’s note).
Q4. When will the room placement be announced?
A4. Room assignment will be announced some time around Mid-January (Spring semester) / Mid-July (Fall semester) on the Communication Channel. Kindly do not ask for the exact date of the announcement.
[Check-in]
Q1. Do I need a medical form to check in to the dormitory?
A1. You do not need a medical form. However, a negative Tuberculosis test result is needed. The test result should be: (1) written in Korean or English, (2) issued on and after July 1 (Fall semester) / January 1 (Spring semester) in the same year that you are checking in to the dormitory. Any type of test is acceptable, including X-ray, skin test, or blood work. This is a requirement to everyone who stays in the dormitory, regardless nationality.
Q2. When is the check-in date and time?
A2. Detailed instructions on checking in to the I-House will be available on the Communication Channel before checking in.
[Roommates]
Q1. I want to be in the same room with my friend/sibling.
A1. As rooms are assigned on a first-come first-serve basis upon successful application, we cannot guarantee matching roommates. Submitting the application in a row might increase the odds.
Q2. I want to know who will be my roommate. Also, can I change my roommate?
A2. We cannot give you personal information of your roommate. Also, changing roommates are not possible in principle.
[Others]
Q1. I'm a one year student. Will I keep my room at the second semester of my study? Also, can I stay in the dormitory during the winter/summer break?
A1. You will continue staying in the same room that you are assigned to at the first semester of your study. Also, in order to keep staying the room during the breaks, you need to participate in one of Ewha's Winter/Summer programs (e.g., International Summer College, International Winter College). Please reach out to I-House at ihouse@ewha.ac.kr to learn more about this.
Q2. Is there a meal plan?
A2. There is no meal plan.
