According to Korean Immigration Act, foreigners intending to stay in Korea for more than 90 days must apply for Foreigner Registration and have a Foreigner Registration Card (FRC) issued. This permit is required regardless of your visa status. If you are a Korean passport holder, you do not need to do the foreigner registration.
The Foreigner Registration should be completed within 90 days of your entry. If you don’t, you may be deported from the Korea and shall be imprisoned with labor for not more than one year or fined up to 10 million KRW (Article 46.(1).12 and Subparagraph 7 of Article 95 of the 「Immigration Control Act」).
To Help you with the process, we offer group registration service for all students. We highly recommend joining in to this group registration. However, you may apply for the FRC on your own by visiting the Seoul Southern Immigration Office*.
