Kiel 2019

How was it?

Kiel 2019 - From the Finnish students' perspective

On the first day of meeting in Kiel we walked from our motel to the RBZ Technik school. We met the other groups in one of the classrooms. It was really nice to see German and Polish groups again. After catching up together, we had a tour of the school. After that we did some work with our projects. They were almost ready, we just had to figure out few small things. Then we had the rest of the evening with some fun activities and free time.

On the second day we walked to school again with Polish group. This was our presentation day so we were little bit nervous. We finished our project and made it look good for the photos. So, now it was time to present it in the auditorium of the school. We had also made a powerpoint presentation about our project and the city we live in. More than 150 people gathered to listen about our presentation; but when it was our turn to present our project, the electricity was suddenly cut out from hole building. So we had to improvise and tell about our project without the PowerPoint presentation helping us but luckily it went well.

After all the groups had presented their projects the press came to interview us and take some pictures. After all, our presentation went well with exception of the power cut.

On the third day we had a little bit more laid-back day compared to earlier days, because we didn’t do project work anymore. Our main activity was a visit to Caterpillar motor factory. It was really interesting place. We also went to the beach and ate a typical German grill food.

Kiel was very beautiful city. We really liked the harbor. Everything from classrooms to streets were really clean, sometimes even cleaner than in Finland. We had delicious food and kebabs were probably the best we had ever ate. We made some good friends from the other groups and hope that we can meet them someday again. Everybody was really nice and got along together.

In summary, we are thankful that we could participate this project, it teached us a lot of things and we made new friends from other groups. Visiting Kiel and Gdynia in Poland were amazing experiences.
