AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT:

An authentic assessment for Information and Communication Technology (Technical Drafting) involves having students create a detailed technical drawing—either manually or using computer-aided design (CAD) software—based on real-world specifications or project briefs. This task evaluates their ability to apply drafting standards, accurately interpret measurements, use proper symbols and line conventions, and produce clear, precise, and functional technical drawings. Students are also assessed on their ability to revise drafts based on feedback, demonstrate attention to detail, and meet deadlines, which mirrors actual industry practices in engineering, architecture, and design fields. 

OVERVIEW:

Information and Communication Technology (Technical Drafting) focuses on the creation of precise and standardized technical drawings used in engineering, architecture, and design. It involves learning the principles of drawing, using drafting tools or computer-aided design (CAD) software, and following industry standards for dimensions, symbols, and layouts. Students develop skills in visualizing objects, interpreting technical specifications, and producing detailed plans and schematics that communicate ideas clearly and accurately. Technical drafting is a foundational skill in many technical fields, supporting the design, construction, and manufacturing processes.
