An authentic assessment for Hairdressing 1 involves having students perform a complete basic hairdressing service—such as shampooing, blow-drying, trimming, or styling—on a live model or mannequin following proper procedures and hygiene protocols. This hands-on task allows learners to demonstrate their understanding of hair structure, tool handling, client interaction, and safety practices. Students are evaluated not only on the quality and neatness of their work but also on their professionalism, time management, and ability to follow salon standards. This real-world experience prepares them for the practical demands of a salon environment.
