Pillerkaar performed at the Estonian Embassy Open House Day, 5-12-18
The Delegation of the European Union to the United States and the Embassies of 28 European Union Member States to the United States opened their doors to the public during the European Union Embassies’ Open House Day on May 12, 2018 in Washington, DC.
In a multicultural celebration in the heart of Massachusetts Avenue's Embassy Row, Pillerkaar again performed traditional Estonian folk dances at the Estonian Embassy. Thousands of visitors came to the stately house that serves as the seat of Estonia's foreign ministry in the United States and were entertained by Pillerkaar, who performed outside the majestic medieval building. Five energetic dancers reveled the crowds with a performance of a wide variety of folk dances. Several times, Embassy visitors were invited to learn a few dances. This was truly an unparalleled event on Pillerkaar's annual calendar due to the unique venue as well as the intimate setting that allowed for close proximity and interaction with the audience. Always a very fun time!
Pillerkaar's next performance will be another collaboration with the Estonian Embassy, and the two other Baltic embassies, at a planned joint Baltic independence celebration in Dupont Circle in Washington, DC on June 23, 2018.
