Final Thoughts

Throughout the course of Simultaneous Translation, I gained a better understanding of the challenges involved in interpreting in real time. This subject required not only language proficiency, but also strong concentration, quick thinking, and the ability to process and reproduce information almost instantly.

One of the main difficulties I faced was working with videos from English to Spanish. I found this direction more challenging because it required faster processing and a higher level of comprehension in English, especially when the speakers talked quickly or used unfamiliar vocabulary. In contrast, I found it easier to interpret from Spanish to English, as I felt more comfortable organizing and expressing ideas in English after fully understanding the message in Spanish.

Additionally, I experienced several difficulties with the technological aspect of the course. Recording the assignments, managing audio quality, and using the required tools were sometimes challenging and added an extra layer of stress to the tasks. These technical issues occasionally affected my performance and confidence during the recordings.

Despite these challenges, the course helped me improve my listening skills, reaction time, and overall ability to interpret spoken language. It also made me more aware of the importance of practice and preparation in simultaneous translation.

Overall, this experience was demanding but valuable, as it pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me develop important skills for real-time communication and interpretation.
