Job shadowing

Good morning Mrs Raymond as a teacher you are partecipating in the project Erasmus + KA2 Algazur Intrnacional. What are the objectives of this project?

We have several objectives: the improvement of inclusive education in our school, the professional training,  CLIL and the learning of foreign languages. Besides, being aware of healthy habits and environment. Finally, to keep in contact with Euopean teachers to carry on different projects in the future.

Mrs Cifuentes Salazar,When did this project start and why did you decide to join the project?

The project started two years ago, unfortunately we had to put it off on account of the pandemic. I joined the project because i thought it was useful to improve our education system as far as methodology, new technology of learning and inclusive policies is concerned. As for the latter in particular, I think the Spanish education system is quite behind its European country partners: disabled children or children with special educational needs  do not receive adequate support since they have to share one teacher with many other students while the integration system in Italy is based on the possibility for  disabled students to attend the public school in a common class, with a reduced number of students and the support of one or even more specially trained teacher for each student.  That really impressed us a lot and sets a good example to follow.

Mrs Martinez Moreno, the project includes jobs hadowing in one of the school partners. Why Italy and what is jobshadowing?

Job shadowing is a type of on-the-job training that allows an interested teacher to follow and closely observe another teacher performing the role. Italy was one of the country partners we were teamed up. In particular Liceo Mamiani was particularly suited for the language-oriented section and inspirational to get new insightful ideas.

Mrs Raymond, planning a project means evaluating strengths and weaknesses beforehand. As for both, which one turned out to be true?

Surely the commitment as teachers really motivated us and it has kept going like this so far. So this is definetely a strong point. We decided to take part in the project because exchanging practices and learning from innovative models can really make a difference. We also considered the dissimilarities between our school and yours and how they could affect the implementation of what we have been learning from this training. It’s part of the job I guess.

A question for all of you. You’re leaving tomorrow for Spain: is there anything worth sharing with your collegues after your stay in Italy?

Mrs Cifuentes: Your online register is really practical and it works perfectly for the students, the teachers and the family at home.

Mrs Raymond: I really liked the Italian educational system and during foreign language classes I got to observe how well the students are able to master a foreign language and deal with grammar as well as literary subjects. That impresssed me a lot.

Mrs Martinez: I really like PCTO: it is very interesting that the students aged between 16 and 19 are introduced to the world of work thanks to internship programs within or outside the school.
