1) promote teamwork, develop critical thinking, analytical abilities and positive attitudes among participants as well as a drive to EXPERIENTIAL TEACHING, which is crucial to

2) bring pupils into the field to observe various environmental phenomena. The same way they’ll be invited to during the on-spot observation of environmental projects at EB Negrelos School

3) draw attention to the life forms, natural landscapes, problems related to health, hygiene, habitat

4) invite students to talk about the problems they observed and suggest solutions

Participants will also learn about autochthonous species, geology, sacred culture, local heritage and traditions

Mr Filipe Fernandes will involve participants in a think tank activity about the following tips to writing possible environmental projects by focusing on the following 7 lenses:

Nature knows best.

All forms of life are equally important.

Everything is connected to everything else.

Everything changes.

Everything must go somewhere.

Ours is a finite Earth.

Nature is beautiful and we are stewards of God's creation

To help participants and then students promote the MOTIVATIONAL APPROACH to field experience in the on -spot observation of environmental projects at EB Aves School

Participants will be discussing about the importance of project-based learning, which

allows a child to demonstrate his or her capabilities while working independently.

shows the child's ability to apply desired skills such as doing research.

develops the child's ability to work with his or her peers, building teamwork and group skills

Participants will also learn about geology, sacred culture, local heritage, food and traditions

Field Trip to Porto:

- Visiting the Botanical Garden;

- Porto and Gaia old town (World Heritage UNESCO),

- Portwine Cellars (tasting)


Participants will also learn about local biodiversity, wine production, local heritage and traditions

Mr Filipe Fernandes will show participants ways to build a BIOLOGICAL GARDEN in a theoretical and practical approach, supported by an on -spot observation of environmental projects at ES D. Afonso Henriques School

Mrs Liliana Costa will involve teachers and students in a chemical based experiment


Participants will discuss about the steps to building a botanical garden according to the following objectives

Develop children's understanding of vegetable production;

Raise children's interest in a more varied diet;

Help children to learn to produce vegetables;

Produce foods appreciated by the community and adapted to the local climate;

Give opportunities for children to consume the vegetables they grow (at school breakfast);

Encourage children to acquire attitudes of cooperation, responsibility, self-esteem and self-confidence, motivation and the value of work
