IS YOUR AED READY?
Does YOUR facility or workplace have an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)?
Is it checked regularly to ensure proper operation in the critical time when it is needed?
Are your staff trained and comfortable with the use of the AED in an emergency situation?
Did you know that AED Maintenance issues are identifiable and can be pointed to as a direct cause of any delays or failures to defibrillate?
Battery problems are a leading cause of AED failure. AED batteries should be checked regularly, both by trained employees of the facility AND a service agent trained in proper AED maintenance.
Expired / OLD pads/electrodes can cause the AED to improperly function and delay or prevent the life-saving shocks needed to reverse cardiac arrest. An AED might sit idle for YEARS without being used, however, it must ALWAYS be ready to function.
