JANUARY NEWSLETTER
Happy New Year! This month has absolutely flown by. Time with family, returning to Chicago, and the start of our winter season updates are all here!

FAMILY VACATION
My family kicked off the year on a cruise! Instead of gifts this Christmas, we decided to go on a family cruise. We have actually done this in place of gifts a few times now, and I love it. Time with them is such a valuable gift.
We rang in the new year somewhere in the Caribbean, and it was wonderful! I got pretty sunburnt, but I am choosing to remember that means it was sunny enough to get burnt! It was a week of naps, good food, and great family time. Saying goodbye was hard as expected, and I miss them tons.

MICROLEAGUE
Our winter Micro is up and running! Check out a more thorough update on my "MicroLeague" recap page!
This season, we are learning about who Eagles are. We are talking about what it looks like to live a life following Christ. It has been special to get to have conversations with the kiddos in a more intentional setting than when we were outside.
I am typically with the younger half of the crew, and I love it. Winter Micro is turning out to be my favorite!

2014 GIRLS CLUB TEAM
Because our girls club season looks a little different this winter, we have decided to host our own "in-house tournaments." Our first was a huge success! The girls loved it and had an absolute ball. It was really fun to give them opportunities to be more competitive than in our regualar practices, and I really enjoyed seeing the parents all mix and spend time together watching.

HOST FAMILY
I missed the Barclays so much while I was out of town, so I was very excited to be back home! We did our own mini-Christmas gift exchange once I returned. Megan and Aaron were so generous and kind as always, and each of the boys had a gift for me as well. They were so excited to give them to me. It was a gift in itself to watch their joy in giving.
Over the month, Aaron has been teaching me a lot about my car! I needed some work done, and he helped me order the parts and do the work here at the house instead of having to take it in. I learned to change my brake pads and rotors, my battery, filters, and pcv valve. It was a gift for sure to have the work done without having to take it in, but the arguably greater gift was to spend time with him and learn so much from him!

GETTING BACK INTO THE SWING OF THINGS
As always, it has taken a bit to get back into all the routines of life here after being gone for a bit. It has been a quick few weeks, but they have been full of lots of relaxing days and chill time with the Barclays. I must admit, I am a little sad to see January go, but I am excited for what the rest of the winter will hold!
Praises and Prayer Requests
Truly, I cannot express how joyful this month has been. It has been overflowing with blessings everywhere I look. I have been surprised by the doors God has opened and continues to open. It has been so evident to see His hand working all things out just right, and I am so grateful for the people He has gifted me to walk that journey alongside. Praise the Lord for sweet friends, family, and players!
I was, admittedly, not the most excited for programming to start back up. I was enjoying the laid-back month of December. However, it has been so so fun to get back to Micro and back with my girls! I missed them!
As per usual, the cold is testing me! It was -16° with a windchill of -27° here! I am not built for this. Continued prayers for safety and warmth would be wonderful!
I am starting to look at my spring schedule and what that might look like. I have a lot on my plate, and I am getting stressed about making it all work!
