We are back for our next club season! We are now officially into our indoor season, which means practicing in churches and gyms! It is such a blessing to have space to practice in the warmth.
I missed the girls so much. It has been really awesome to see them grow even since last working with them. Elisha and I have been shocked at how tall they have gotten. They legitimately look older and older by the day! I can tell many of them have actually spent time on the ball over the break, and that is really encouraging.
We will be off for Christmas break until January. I am praying over each family as they lean into the season of Advent. Please be praying that the girls would be lights in their homes, schools, and beyond, all sharing the life-bringing message of Christ!
Our team decided to take the month of December off, which allowed us lots of time for sweet gatherings and team-time off the field. My favorite activity was our team Christmas party. We met at one of the girls' houses to build gingerbread houses, decorate Christmas cookies, play Christmas games, and watch a Christmas movie.
It was fun to continue to get to know and pour into my girls as individuals off of the field. We read through the Christmas story and spent a good bit of time talking. through it and sharing what it meant to each of us. I was surprised at how insightful and wise they each were. It is so special to be surrounded by players who want to get better while also teaching me more about walking in faith.

I am currently coaching our 2014 Girls Club team. For those of you counting, that means my girls are 11 years old! And what an adventure that has been! I am truly loving getting to know each of these sweet girls and seeing them develop as a team. My goals for them this season are to develop as players, people, and most importantly, young women of Christ.
Our focus this season is INTEGRITY. As a team, we created our own definition (hand motions and all) of what "integrity" means to us.
INTEGRITY: Aligning my thoughts, words, and actions with my beliefs in order to look more like Jesus
Each week, we are focusing on a different piece of our definition and discussing how we can look more like Jesus in that area. This past week, we talked about how our thoughts can better reflect Christ. We learned that our words and actions all flow out of our thoughts, and our thoughts are often products of where our hearts lie. We memorized Romans 12:2 and discussed how our faith often calls us to look different from the world.
We played our first game last weekend, and we had the perfect opportunity to practice what we had been learning. Unfortunately, it was a tough match. However, I was super proud of the girls for their effort, their willingness to do whatever was asked of them, and most excitingly, the way they recognized and took advantage of an opportunity to reflect Jesus in their thoughts when the world was giving them a reason to be discouraged.
Elisha is coaching our 2016 Girls Club team. It has been such a joy to work alongside her, and I would be struggling a lot if not for her patience, guidance, and help. She has been so intentional with her girls, and I am so grateful the Lord placed us here together. It has been so neat to see the ways we complement each other both on and off the field. I am also being assisted by Kieley Leach and Becca Wells. They have been lifesavers, teaching me so much about the game, the girls, and coaching in general. I would love if you all would be praying for these women as well as they strive to love these players as God does.
My prayer for this team would be that they would grow in their faith as well as their development as players. We are having a little touble with numbers and don't always have a sub, which has presented its own unique opportunities. Please join me in praying for safety, enjoyment, and participation and commitment from each girl. We would love to be able to serve even more girls in this space. I am praying that the Lord would bring the girls He wants in this group to us.
