11/15/21 DNR'S Hatchery to Habitat

Join Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery educator Shana Ramsey from southwest Michigan to connect students to nature and learn about fish biology and how the DNR raises fish to release into Michigan waters. During our 30-minute lesson, we will meet the following objectives:

Comprehend the complexity and science-based process of raising fish.

  • Describe the life stages of fish.

  • Explain the positive impacts of fish management and conservation.

  • Understand threats to fisheries in Michigan.

The MiPINES online map showcases nature spaces in your community. Many have been provided by teachers just like you. The map features various layers, which can be selected or de-selected to change what types of sites are shown. Each “drop point” may be left clicked on to reveal more information about that site, such as restroom availability, known accessibility measures, rules of use, site-specific contact information, and more.
