Watersheds

Build off of your WATERSHED distance learning program by using the document to the left as an extension or bonus activity for students. Participants will learn about their watershed and then create a comic strip following the story of a raindrop.

This simulation allows students to make land use choices and then rates the quality of their selections based on scientific data correlating soil erosion, nutrient transport, precipitation, land management practices, and biological diversity.

In the Watershed Sleuth Challenge, students will learn more about a watershed —what it is, why it’s important, and what they can do to help protect it, as they earn badges at each level of this three-part course. Note: This resource is designed to be used with middle and high school age students.
