two people, ish
green beans (2 bags)
pressed tofu (2 portions, label should say)
garlic (2 cloves)
cooking oil
salt
soy sauce
white pepper
sesame oil
PREP:
Start cooking some rice to eat it with.
Wash the green beans and take the ends off.
Chop the green beans to the desired length. I go with ~1-inch pieces, which are shorter than most people do, so that they'll be easier to stir around the frying pan later.
Cube the tofu up, also to the desired size. Keep in mind that it will probably crumble up a bit when you stir it, so don't go too small.
Mince the garlic.
COOK:
Heat some cooking oil up in a frying pan, or wok if you have one.
Fry the garlic a little.
Add the green beans in, and brown them. Also add in some salt and soy sauce at the same time (the latter makes it easier to brown). I had to use the highest setting on my stove to get the pan hot enough to brown them, but I also think my stove is a weakling. You can start on a low heat to cook them, then only turn it up later to brown the outsides.
Once the beans are browned, add the tofu. Like the beans, you want to brown it, but you also don't have to worry about actually cooking it, since tofu has already been cooked and you can eat it "raw". It usually tastes nicer if you do, though.
Add the rest of the seasonings, to taste. I'd add more salt and soy sauce at this point, even though they already got added in step 8, so the tofu gets some as well.
A good indicator of when they're done is when the beans look kind of glazed.
Eat with rice.
Honestly this is really versatile. You can put in whatever seasonings you want and it'll probably be fine. A good one would be adding chilis, but I didn't have any at hand.
Same goes for the veggie(s). This would go super hard with like. broccoli or bok choi or some mushrooms (which. aren't veggies, but their own separate thing).
