Feeling nostalgic... 28.03.22

So the world turned upsidown about this time two years ago...

This time two years ago I was a supervisor for a small deli in a chain of hotels, we were staying in the hotel every other week for 'security'.

We couldn't see our family, we had no idea what was going on, and we had no idea what was going to happen.

Facetiming became a norm, virtual games, tiger king and baking were just some of the things that came out of peoples isolation in 2020.

A month or so into the start of this pandemic my mum and dad were key workers helping the community, and mum asked if I wanted to help cook some meals for front line workers and those who were isolating. Only 11 people at the time. We had been nominated by Fareshare to help the community.

Like many people, I was missing my family and missing a purpose, so I jumped at the opportunity to spend time with my mum and volunteer my time... I wouldn't have guessed within 18 weeks of the pandemic we would have bloomed beyond compare creating 3000+ meals delivering to over 40 households and making 400+ meals in just over 2 days!

I am forever grateful for the position I am now in to be able to help my community and fight food waste, to be able to take this passion into a profession, whilst making many friends, memories and just grow in myself.

Very excited for this weeks delivery! It didn't start this small!

Below is where you can see we took over the cafe a bit!
