Marek Soulshield
Marek Soulshield was formerly a Knight of Solamnia. He lost favor with the Knights when they'd called on him to help defend a village, however, he'd just learned that a Minotaur he'd spent many years traveling with and had become very close friends with, named Bloodhorn had gotten into dire trouble. Rather than racing to the Knights he raced to the aid of his friend and rescued his friend. The Knights were successfully able to defend the town from the goblin attack, however, they looked down on Marek's choice to aid a minotaur rather than his fellow Knights. Though never removed from the Knighthood, Marek took it upon himself to leave the Knights and find a new life. He settled in Winterholm and opened a tavern named Frost Maiden Inn, which he would eventually hand over to another stranger he helped protected named Hazel Moonseeker, who had escaped from the extremist Seekers known as Cridheolc. He has remained at the Inn and Tavern as their primary cook.
