The domain focuses on the idea that school activities are significantly linked to students' experiences and aspirations in their homes and communities. As a result, the sector focuses on teachers' efforts to strengthen the links between school and community activities, as these aid the achievement of curricular objectives.
I've experienced a lot of things, from a parent-teacher conference to seminars for teachers. From my experience of a parent-teacher convention in school, they conducted a portfolio day during the 3rd quarter, where parents of the students came to school to see how progressive their children’s performance was, the grades of students, their achievements, etc. As an intern teacher, I am assigned by my cooperating teacher to assist parents in signing their students’ report cards. I grabbed the opportunity for myself to experience how it feels to interact with my student's parents. Back in my elementary and high school era, my parents also came to school to sign my report cards and were assisted by a teacher. But because of this internship, I have experienced the feeling of being able to help someone/parent in the school. Some parents are disappointed because their child has received low grades, while others are happy with the grades the child has earned. But I encourage and motivate them to teach their children because the learning comes from home. My second experience was that during the seminars of the Baybay II teachers, we interns were asked to join and participate in the seminar. I didn’t hesitate to attend the seminar. We are pleased with all the teachers, because from those seminars we learned a lot of things, from the sharing of thoughts and ideas, what to take away from the seminars, and the experiences they shared with us. We are very interested because from these experiences we can learn something we can use in the future. Participating in these kinds of activities is an opportunity for future teachers because it gives us hints and knowledge about a specific topic that in the future could help us. Communication is essential in promoting harmonious relationships with learners, parents, schools, and the wider community. Teachers should keep students, parents, and school leadership informed of their child’s progress so that all responsible parties can work together to support the student's learning objectives.
In this domain, I realized that as teachers, we must also seek advice and support from the community to develop new plans and concepts for the community, parents, students, and the institution. I've learned that we must be open and honest with parents about their children's performance so that they can assess and help us do what is best for them. We should also participate in seminars, hear new things from others and stakeholders, and share our thoughts or ask questions about something that is confusing to us.
